The Waiting Game

By AlleyCatz
Good evening to you Smile

My third upload from the recent visit we had to NYMR war weekend at Pickering.

The three girls were sat on the platform opposite to us....playing dominoes...I tried to get a clean b/g and seperate them from everyone else....but there were just far too many people walking past them and myself..... so this is the only half decent shot I managed to get of them.
I really liked thier red hats and coat.

Did a litle faffing in PS to give a nostalgic look.

Thanks for stopping by Smile

C&C welcome

~Alley~

Beautiful image, not sure it needed the blur but it is screaming out for a mono or maybe sepia version. Well spotted.

Yes...Bomber....I had a mono conversion in mind...but wanted a colour one first, with those reds.

Just love those three little girls (in a purely paternalistic way of course) but find the background (especially the floral skirt and gloved hands) a wee bit distracting. Could you maybe desaturate the background a tad? Anyways, a definite click for the foreground Ms Catz.

Great candid Alison & to be a little controversial....Wink...I like the people in the bg,gives me the impression of their Parents watching them whilst they play their Dominoes.A slightly desaturated bg would give a whole different look to this & perhaps remove the 'Parental' aspect of the image....depends on the impression you are trying to achieve methinks.

Under the circumstances of a very busy platform, you have a great shot here...very well seen indeed Smile

Such a charming image Alley and I agree with Janet re the people in the background. I prefer the warmth of the colour in V1.

. . . lovely capture . . the girls are quite in context and the people in the background add to that . . the red hats and blurr to the edges makes for a strong subject and works for me!

Lovely take Alley, a very appealing set-up. V2 works better for me, although I'm not keen on the blur. I thinj a bit of vignetting might have worked better but that's just a personal thing.

I went to this event a couple of years ago Alley. The platform was a dedicated area for forties posers and, BOY did they pose. When the crowded train disgorged its wartime contents you had to keep your wits about you. Some people were never to be seen again that afternoon !
Lovely shot by the way

I don't mind the b/g at all, although I think the more desaturated one in V2 is possibly better. I think the reds hold your attention on the kids well enough. Great stuff.
