Catch a rainbow

By Amber_Ashes
This photo was taken for my most recent project.. Fair ground memories.. The fair was visiting town and had been set up along the seafront.. The sun was starting to set and it was raining.. I spotted a rainbow over one of the rides towards the sea... and this was the result...

Good effort but the rainbow is somewhat insignificant in relation to the colourful foregorund.

unfortunately a lot of colour was lost when i compressed the file to a jpeg.. But in the original pic the rainbow really stands out against the stormy sky and highlights the ride... does anyone have any tips on preserving the amount of colours when compressing a photo?

Great shot. My tips if you havce photoshop is to resize your picture for this site first. Then enhance the colour, (I sometimes slightly darken the picture too), then do an unsharp mask and that's it. I find when I compress that the blacks go grey and colours do, as you said, lose their intensity.

Great image, love the range of colours and the way the all complement each other nicely, the rainbow is just a bonus. well done!
