Activity : Photo Comments

I have been interested in photography for many years and decided to develop my interest more by getting a DSLR in 2009. Over the last couple of years I have got a passion for music photography which became a huge passion when I got my 50mm f1.8 lens and the majority of photos I take are at live music events, mainly the gigs I promote myself. Also, my pictures are rarely edited any more than just being sharpened a little.

I am also very interested in street photography, low light and gothic architecture.

Cheers for the positive comments, I actually took this as the background for my birthday gig last November

  • Branches

That's brilliant, cheers. I'll be sure to have a play around next chance I get. With regards to the empty space at the top, if i'd have lowered the camera much more i'd have McDonalds in the background but I will be using this as a gig poster soon so it'll soon be filled up.

Quote:Great shot...better for the bnw conversion Smile
I reckon I may have got rid of the mic in the top left , only because it draws yor eye to that & away from the guitarist.

Not a bad idea that, I barely ever edit my shots (for various reasons) so I never think about things like that, the shot is what it is for me. Nice solid white light behind it so it'd even be easy for me to get rid of it

Quote:Didn't notice the missing bit, until you drew my attention to it!!! Very nice photo.

    Isn't that typical.

Thank you all for the comments

Yeah I know, got them playing my birthday at the end of November. Went to Northampton to see them a couple of months ago as well, cracking band.

I like how you can only see the whites of her eyes, gives it a real sinister feel to it

  • Different view

    Outstanding, I love it.

  • Hot on stage

Live shots with bad lighting can almost always be saved with just a conversion to mono, try sepia as well as b&w. Totally agree with the ISO point, 2500 is far too high but there's not much you can do about that now.

If you're into editing then shooting in RAW is a must but again, this doesn't help you with this shot. I would like to see this compared to the original though.

This isn't too bad a shot though and it's nice to see a few more people putting up live music photos. Stick with it.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed them and well done for the awards.

  • Fire fighters

Even though fire can be so destructive you seem to have captured a moment to make it have some kind of serenity. There is no rushing of the firemen, no collapse of the structure and the sculpture in the middle seems to be giving itself to the fire. Wonderful shot.

Quote:Yes indeed, but it is really your eye for the moment that catches all the concentration and energy of the singer. You have a real talent to exploit your interest in music. Paul SmileSmile

Thank you, that's easily the best comment I have had about my photos, thank you so much, that really means a lot.

Cheers, the band have actually been using it and another I took alongside some others for a promo banner on Facebook which I was seriously happy about

  • Andy - Burn City Burn

I haven't managed to make a start to my photos from Saturday yet so I will put one more up just for you

  • The Diner...

Fantastic, makes me think it could be a screen shot from a Steven King book/film with the diner being the main location but the blurred lines and lighting being the spooky part of it. Also, good food inside. Don't suppose it was the one near Stamford?
    • 2 Aug 2013 10:26PM
  • Merrivale Waterfall

Me either, when I took a quick snap it was already going that way so I just slowed it down a little more to take the blobs out. Worked out quite well I think.
    • 29 Jul 2013 3:57PM
  • Davaar Island Cave

There wasn't any positioning for her nephew or any planning involved in the shots other than she thought it might look good so took two snaps whilst he was still sat there. All they are is holiday snaps. So considering that, I don't think they could be any better

  • beach fireworks

Brilliant, much better than the ones I got at Great Yarmouth on Wednesday. First thing I saw though was the fireworks, horizon doesn't matter in the slightest to me
    • 27 Jul 2013 3:12PM
  • Peter - AntiClone

Cheers, i'll have to stick some of the other ones i'm not sure of up as well then

  • Jet - UK Subs

It was horrible by the end of it
    • 21 Jul 2013 4:07PM
  • Az and Raz

Both under a different light but with Raz leaning his head in you can almost see the love. The band won't be getting back together though, lots of bad blood there
    • 18 Jul 2013 5:31PM
  • Mt Rainier and the Milky Way

Wonderful shot, i'd nearly forgotten I went there when I visited Seattle

    Fantastic shot, absolutely perfect timing

  • Time of your life...

Great shot, as i'm sure you've realised I do like a live close up and this is a fantastic one.
