Intercepting Astons

Intercepting Astonsthe trouble is they are not sharp images for some reason and colours are washed out....

do not think its focus because nothing is sharp...could be camera movement but just dont think it is.....because it is consistant on all the car shots....I think its the lens and converter combination it is just not good enough for what your trying to do....sorry to be blunt....but think your expecting to much from that lens !

the composition is fine and you got yourself in the right place.....

Old Barn

Old BarnYou know I try to be honest and it probably explains my veiwing stats but at the risk of losing a valued contributer ....er against what everyone has said I think this is caught between two different thoughts..a record shot and a sort of dark idea you had when processing it.....

As a straight shot its too distorted, the barn leans back and the angles are shot to buggery....
As a spooky shot..it needs more distortion really go for it...perhaps even use distortion from adobe...the sky is good but the green grass needs to go...also the white sacks? far right should be cropped out......more rooks on the wires please....and tone it all back a bit.....ok ok I will go now.....another one bites the dust.....remember it's only one persons veiw...many more will say I'm talking out of my.....

Rust & Bakelite

Rust & BakeliteWhat makes this for me anyway is the inclusion of the smaller green bottle tucked away..but I may have made the pocket watch not quite so straight as it makes it look set up rather than..look what I came across while rummaging in the shed.....if you get my drift

Graceone is best...you need to use another light to seperate the subject from the backdrop and/or move the subject further away if at all possible.

Many years ago I did a whole nusery school and learnt a few hard facts...Never ever if your doing a lot of kids mention that any one would make a good model for cataloge's or anything that makes you look like you are favoring any one child..the rest get the hump !

Never take more shots of one child over another unless you can justify the extra attention...

Always get an assistant to give you a hand with props etc..or rope in the person who is the "guardian"...ie chose you too do the shoot...your sucsess is linked to how she/he gets on with you assuming the photos are perfection.

Do not offer that person any special deals..it will come back to haunt you!

Find some good tranquilisers....not for you but to slip to the darling's you intend to shoot(er yes literaly).....

Last but not least enjoy the day!

My Girl

My GirlI'm a bit of a pain but prefer to say what I think a bit...so here goes..Her hair is probably amazing but it looks like it has no texture, the gown/dress is well handled and the slight de saturation[guessing]is well handled...think she needs to look a bit more towards the tog to bring a connection with the veiwer...but worth a click.

Soaring Crow

Soaring CrowSpent weeks photographing these for the scarecrow pic on portfolio.
The best wayis to make sure the light comes from the front so you pick up ye/leg and feather details..all my early ones looked like this one...for a grabbed shot you did very well....Robin made me laugh!

bareI find this totaly refreshing and one of the most beautiful self portaits I have seen on here for years..has a warmth and softness that just gets to you.
The head tilt and eye contact just works so far past the norm it hurts.

On holiday

On holidayDef to small...but it must have something good going for it because after looking through the new images on here this morning it stuck in my mind so this is a revisit..

Being honest it comes acroos as a snapshot taken on holiday..but the more you look it is still a really nice photograph..bottle on the right holds the image in,flower and other bottle sort of add balance, and with the bottle just breaking up the black curve gets away with it being just a accident[most would remove it before taking the shot..

The building is overexposed in such a way [plus depth of feild being spot on] that it forms a frame for the main subject.

But what makes it such a joy and disregarding everything I have said is that gorgeous smile!
