Desolate Industry

By Suehh
This is part of the disused Dinorwic Slate Quarry in Snowdonia. Here is a bit of info for those interested .

I actually love this place - every time I visit Snowdonia I just have to go and walk here - it is desolate and a mountain vista destroyed by humankind, but somehow to me quite beautiful. In my head I can hear the shouting of the men, the clanging of chains, the cutting of the slate, etc. I guess many see it as an eyesore from days gone by but there is beauty in all the abandoned cut slate; the blue greys, the cry of the birds, the few trees growing on the mountainside hanging on in there for all they are worth, the view, but most of all the silence from human kind

The remains of former industry here must provide endless possibilities: and the B and W presentation seems so appropriate. Excellent shot.

Usually a kind of mystery surrounds these desolate remnants and it makes them enchanting. I agree with you. It's a good shot but I am not sure about the choice of a different hue for the mono, although it doesn't disturb the eye.

I first saw this when I was ten years old; it's a place I have never forgotten. Visits since have been rare, but I know something similar if less slaty near the mountain road from Rhayader to Aberystwyth.
Not much industry left to desolate now.
A memorable image for which the mono is ideal. And thanks for the memory.

The mono treatment really gives it a stark feeling, and added spookiness with that crow sitting there! Nice one, Sue Wink

Looks like the crows have 'grown' somewhat, since I was last there !!!!!!.Wink

darken the sky..adda knarled old tree..and even more magic....but I really like this and the potential even more.....darkness is afoot....or even a clandestine meeting between lovers in the darkning skies!

Sorry Mills and boon!!!!
