Green Valley 30 Dec 08: Pumeza & Billy
Better when viewed Large, thanks
On Tuesday afternoon I drove out to Wittedrift to drop off June and Emily, two ladies from that very insular community who assists my mom with her small holiday homes rental business. I had to travel a bit further up Emily's street to turn around, and that's when I spotted this girl peering at me throught this window.
Her name is Pumeza Andrew. She is 2yrs old, and she has wicked hair. Dad Billy, an electrician by trade, who is reclining on the sofa in the background, tells me that she is very bright and confident. He can quite freely send her around this neighbourhood running errands for him and his wife.
Billy told me that Green Valley is 'like a big family', where no 'inkomers' (outsiders) have settled yet. He likes it here, as it is usually the 'inkomers' that bring the crime and drugs to closed communities like this. Here everyone is either related, or at least feel as if they are related 'to everyone', and 'all knows all'.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope that 2009 will be a real 'clicking' year for you all,
Andre
