A group of local photographers have come together to create a photobook in aid of local charities. Entitled, 'Simply Saddleworth', the book pictures the landscapes, villages and people of the Saddleworth area. The book contains images from a number of EPZers including Gill and Charlotte Brett as well as myself.

Most of the book's contributors met through the Saddleworth Flickr Group and had never met before this project. The book is self funded along with sponsorship donations from local businesses.

Saddleworth, located between Huddersfield and Oldham was until 1974, a part of the old West Riding. It is a small piece of Yorkshire wedged alongside Lancashire and is home to an amazing variety of landscapes of valleys and villages.

Governed from Oldham, Saddleworth has managed to keep its own unique character as shown in the stone-built villages and the events that take place in their streets throughout the year. Originally forged by the woollen industry Saddleworth is now the northern gateway to the Peak District National Park attracting visitors from all over the world.

All the photographs in this book have been taken by keen local photographers based around Saddleworth and Huddersfield, with an interest in their own local area and those distinctive events which make Saddleworth such a special place.

The photographs have been organised into different topics such as Villages and Architecture, Events, Industry and Landscapes. There is also a section comparing bygone times with the present day.

All of the proceeds will be donated to local charities including Oldham Mountain Rescue and Saddleworth Museum. The book costs 6.00 (plus postage) and is available from a number of local outlets as well as by post from
