Landscape photography provides us with a constant journey of discovery, where the only limits we have is with our imagination.
I would like to share with you some of the images and places that I have visited, which have inspired me in my photography work over the last few years.
I have lived in South East Kent for most of my life, where I grew up in Canterbury and then later on moved to Margate, which is where I started to get an interest in Coastal & Landscape photography. The Thanet area has a Beautiful and Diverse range of Beaches and Bays, stretching from Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate in the South, along to Reculver in the North, many of which have a Blue Flag status.
The Landscape in the South East is a source of great inspiration for my photography. I am always looking to discover new and interesting places to visit, and to try and capture the look and feel of this distinctive coastline as I see it.
The coastal towns of Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Whitstable and Herne Bay hold a special fascination to me as I have grown up around here and I know the area very well, visiting this Coastline and seeing the great colourful skies that we get here is one of the reasons that this remains a special place for me.
When the early morning sun rises and the evening sun starts to set, the whole skyline can be transformed into an array of vibrant rich colours and textures, which can produce a wonderful glow across the surrounding landscape.
The Painter JMW Turner who once lived in Margate and was inspired with the local area once remarked ;
The skies over Thanet are the loveliest in all Europe.
