Winter Torrent on the River Lathkill

By AndyMurdo
A long exposure tripod mounted shot a step weir & rapids near Haddon Grove in Derbyshire. What drew my eye was the shapes caused by the foaming water juxtaposed with the architechtural rime frosted vegitation on the little island against the darkend valley sides. I had the "Letter Box" crop in mind as the foreground was untidy and unavoidable with this wide view, the muted tones also made me think B&W that and a bit of distracting bland sky to the upper R/H side which had to be cloned out to complete the picture.

Works very well I think and a good choice to go mono and push the contrast. I think teh moving water and static frosted veg work well together and there is a nice flow up the stream to the larger clump.
