Curved Monsal Weir

By stevieb
Yep, Monsal Weir in landscape. Had another bash at 'curves' and confused the hell out of myself. Background could be a bit dark I suppose. It's had some curves, some saturation(maybe a little too much), and some sharpenning. So, as ever, make my day....Go for it Smile....oh and Merry Xmas etc.

Good exposure and composition. I'd add some green reflexes in the bg to match the rock. click

Looks like you have the same trouble with curves as I do Steve. I keep telling myself I must get the hang of them, but when I have something to do I resort to all the other methods instead.

I like the composition of this, landscape suits it, but think it is too dark at the top. There is a good feeling of distance from the rock to the falls.

The foreground is wonderful in this. A cracking piece of work.

Works for me Steve. Playing with the curves has woken up the light that's within the water. The moody dark feel suits the location.

Thanks guys, it's good to see we differ sometimes Smile.

Hermin, after all the punishment I've taken about 'green' I think I'll leave it alone for a while.

Nice shot. The light on the water does it for me. Click

Thanks Andy. Not easy to tell with a pooey monitor at work...oooops.... did I say that.

Just printed this out and it's a lot lighter...lighter in fact enough to show a pair of flippin' EPZers standing at the top of the weir !!! Damn you boys. LOL!!

The water's definitely better than yesterday's one, but I'm afraid I don't like the dark top corners. Andy's rework is better as he has restored some detail in those areas.

Cheers all. It's really interesting seeing what others get from an image.

Prefer this composition to the portrait. Can see a bit of colour noise in the larger version, what ISO was this shot at?

Nice shot Steve. The water splitting both ways around the foreground rock has the effect of dragging the viewer into the picture.
