  • Come Dine with Me

Not easy to get no movement at all in tongue and locust at that shutter speed, you did really well Smile I sometimes shoot them at 1000 shutter and still get movement, each time is different.

  • Dead leaf mantis

Quote:Wonderful mantis, a new one to me.. although we have a tiny one that resembles a bit.
Where do you live, or if that is too intrusive, in which country did you take it?

This is one of 7 that I keep as pets Smile in the UK

  • Orchid mantis eating

Quote:Very nice Angi ... mine never seem to get past their first shed!

I just bought 6 different species and 3 shed the first week Smile I feed a mixture of foods such as aphids, fruitflies, crickets, flies, moths - it seems different ones like different food. Only one has refused 4 different types of food - possibly due to shed but all others eating well once Ive discovered what each one prefers - I have a complicated feeding chart to document them until I remember each one Grin

Quote:Love that tea pot, wish that were in my collection.

Its not mine sadly - a local camera club loaned me a couple of pewter teapots and a couple of old candlestick holders Smile Although I have ended up buying a few nice old things from a reclamation yard

Are you entering IGPOTY still life category with a few of your still lifes? I hope you are. Im hoping to have 4 that are good enough to enter

  • Orchid mantis on spiral shoot

Quote:You certainly got a great image to remember him by. I am amazed at how you could pose him.

Thanks, sometimes he would just walk onto whatever plant stem I put in front of him, other times he would move away, he was always in charge of where he went, I just offered a variety of things for him to climb - after that it was a game of patience to see if he moved to somewhere on a plant that would make a good photograph and whether he was in a wandering mood or sitting still mood. He naturally sat waiting for his food items ( flies) to come near then he would snatch them out of the air.

  • Hey Lorraine, you have some fabulous images in your collection, I enjoyed browsing
    Angi
  • Ive only just really discovered your portfolio after coming back for a 2nd browse and I like what I see.
You seem to see art in things that most people dont and that is part of what I like. But I also like your approach, with much of your work being quite dark and the application of photoshop in so many diferent ways. Very much the type of art and photpography I enjoy.

  • What a thoroughly enjoyable portfolio you have. You say you feel you have lost your "oomph", but its not noticeable in your images - they are of very high quality. Personally I think your portfolio is one of the finest wildlife folios on here. Hoping you find your oomph again so you can enjoy togging again. Angi
