356 Day 23 - Another view of the docks

Yesterdays photo was uploaded into the 'critique gallery' and I was delighted with the really constructive comments I got. Could I get lower, was I able to take the shot straight on rather than at a slight angle, was I able to get more foreground, could I maybe just focus on the sign, was my white balance set correctly as the image looked a bit yellow, etc., etc. So off to the docks I went again today to have another crack at my old building from yesterday. I did take one or two pictures and will spend some time processing them but for today's picture I am at the other end of the docks, opposite what used to be the antiques centre and is now in the process of becoming the latest apartment block. As mentioned in an earlier post, there is set of lock gates here and a large round mirror which looks away from the docks towards the canal and this is the focus of todays picture. The area around the mirror I a bit messy so I have gone in close and, yes, I probably could and should clone out the sandwich board thingy behind it. The exposure for this was a bit tricky as the mirror was quite bright and reflective so I have had to burn the highlights down a bit. If you look very closely you can seem me on the other side of the canal with a red jacket on!

You could but I'm not sure that you should.

I stopped removing things like that a long time ago, after reading the blurb attached to a shot on here by McFade, who made the point that if rubbish bins, roadsigns and yes, sandwich boards are there, in reality, when you take the shot, why would you remove therm?

The only time that I deliberately clone things out nowadays, is if I've ended up with a tree or something similar, growing from someone's ear.

Just a thought.

.....and if this is meant to be a diary type project then it should be left as it is. You always make me think Bren!, thank you. Smile
