365 Day 116 - Skype home

We bought a 12 hour wifi package when we joined the ship, not quite an hour a day but enough to download the daily paper and for me to keep up with my daily photo blog. At £14 it is quite steep though so we use it sparingly and hope it will last. I would have thought that the crew, who tend to have contracts on board for anything between 4 and 10 months at a time, would have got this free but clearly not. Each port we visit we see crew members in Internet cafés or anywhere that they can get free or cheap wifi. Today was no exception when we got off the ship in Cartagena. I was attracted to the poles and shadows in this area of the port when I heard someone talking and realised that this member of the crew was skyping home.

Hi Anne,
This works a treat, although it really does need that guy to be sitting there.
The only thing that lets it down, just slightly, is the inclusion of the person right in the centre, in the background.
Without him (?), the background, although it's quite busy becomes quite unobtrusive.
Cheers,
Bren.

I absolutely agree with you about the extra guy Jester. When I get home and have access to Lightroom and Photoshop again I will get rid of him but my skills on iPhoto are fairly limited to say the least. What I miss most is a histogram and highlight clipping display. Sad hoe dependent we become on technology rather than the naked eye!
