365 Day 164 - Iona

I'm not sure what a week's worth of that farm track will do to our car, but I'm sure we will get used to it!

Iona today and a glorious day it is too. I had expected to be posting a photograph of the Abbey, which is lovely. It was founded by St Columba and his Irish followers in AD 563 and is one of Scotland's most historic and sacred sites http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/iona/abbey/index.html. Before we visit the Abbey though we decide to take a walk up to the north of the island and it is absolutely stunning, carpets of wild flowers and beautiful white sand beaches like the one we found through this gate. Wish the gate had stayed open, it would have been a better photograph!
