365 Day 177 - Race for Life

Having been affected by cancer myself I am very aware of the need to raise funds for cancer research and one of the ways I have done that over the last few years is by taking part in Race for Life. Usually I take part in the Gloucester event but missed it this year as we were still on holiday, so Cheltenham it was. Apart from an apparent total lack of organisation as far as the traffic was concerned to the point that we were late arriving and starting, 3 generations of my family and a couple of friends took part and had a great time. Grandson Sam who has graced these pages playing golf and football as well as photography, streaked ahead of the rest of us and did his 5km in 31 minutes. For some of us though it was more of a gentle stroll rather than a race but we raised some funds for a great cause none the less!

Technically this photograph should not be included here as I am in it and it was taken by my daughter in law, which is why I am including a second one with just the girls. Well done team!!
