365 Day 179 - Swirly (ICM) poppies

You would think that I would perfect one technique before experimenting with another and I always intend to, but then I see something and think, I'll try .... There are a little patch of poppies that have seeded themselves in our front garden and they are so pretty that I didn't have the heart to pull them up. I liked the tall wavy stems and leaves but when I photographed them, it did nothing for me. I tried moving the camera up and down and sideways and actually did get a 'Monet's waterlilies' type of effect, but then read something about turning the camera round as you released the shutter. I'm going to have another go at this, maybe with the camera on a tripod as it isn't easy to keep it level and turn it at the same time, but for my, here are a couple of my efforts: Although none of it is quite in focus, I think I prefer the second as you can tell what it is.
