365 Day 50 - Creative crocuses

Wow. I have reached day 50 and they said it wouldn't last!

This morning I was reading Pete's blurb on creative lighting in the 'Inspiration' section of EPZ and was planning to have a go with this later tonight. Browsing around the site, I came across some images of flowers reflected in glass with black fabric underneath and in the meantime I was reflecting on how a CC judge complemented me last night on a water-lily reflection image I had put into a competition. Todays image is a combination of all of those things.

The crocuses are lovely in the garden just now but the don't keep in water so I thought I'd have a go at trying to preserve them in another way. I started with my glass, black card and sunlight coming through the conservatory window but while most of the flowers were nicely lit, the one of the left was in quite deep shadow and that is where Pete's creative lighting came in. My usual reflector didn't do much good, but a small hand torch with quite a narrow area of light shone into the left flower gave enough light to balance it against the others. The only thing I did find was that either my black card or glass or both were not as spotless as I thought so a fair bit of healing was required in Lightroom to remove the blemishes!
