365 Day 51 - Snowy Owl

We had Sam and Jack for the day and Sophie and Lily and their mum joined us at lunchtime. What to do with 4 children under eight on a wet afternoon? One option was a local farm/activity park but several dozen children in an indoor soft play barn filled me with dread, then Sam came up with the idea of a visit to the International Centre for Birds of Prey, http://www.icbp.org/index/ which is only about 5 miles from us.
This is a brilliant place for all the family. A bit pricey to get in but once in there are all manner of birds of prey, 3 flying displays and a reasonably priced café. We only managed 1 flying display today and watching the children had to take priority over photography but I did manage to get a couple of reasonable shots in the 'owl barn'. This one was taken through the cage with a wide aperture and manually focusing on the bird and I think I've just about got away without too much evidence of the cage in the photo.
Having fed them all, they have now just left so I thought I'd get my photo up before I sit down with a glass of well earned wine!
