365 Day 51 - Snowy Owl

It is half term here in Gloucestershire and today was our day for some of the grandchildren. We had Sam and Jack for the day and Sophie and Lily and their mum joined us at lunchtime. What to do with 4 children under eight on a wet afternoon? One option was a local farm/activity park but several dozen children in an indoor soft play barn filled me with dread, then Sam came up with the idea of a visit to the International Centre for Birds of Prey, which is only about 5 miles from us.

This is a brilliant place for all the family. A bit pricey to get in but once in there are all manner of birds of prey, 3 flying displays and a reasonably priced café. We only managed 1 flying display today and watching the children had to take priority over photography but I did manage to get a couple of reasonable shots in the 'owl barn'. This one was taken through the cage with a wide aperture and manually focusing on the bird and I think I've just about got away without too much evidence of the cage in the photo.

Having fed them all, they have now just left so I thought I'd get my photo up before I sit down with a glass of well earned wine!
