365 Day 79 - College Court, Gloucester

Computer is fixed at last so I am listening to music as I type up my blog tonight!

Back to town again today for a meeting of Gloucestershire Schools Forum, on which I represent Primary School Governors. I got persuaded to stand as a result of several years working in schools finance as well as being on the governing body of our small primary school for more years than I care to admit to. Todays meeting was the usual discussion about school funding, responses to government consultations and the like but started with a surprise presentation to the lead officer of a long service award and guess what, I happened to have my camera in my bag so there is now an even more surprise photograph of the presentation! I didn't think it was fair to the gentleman in question, who also happens to be my former boss, to splash his face all over (or even hide it in) my blog, so went in search of another photo when the meeting was over and I didn't have to go far which is just as well as it was raining by that time.

College Court is a narrow lane which leads from Westgate Street to College Green, where stands Gloucester Cathedral. There are one or two nice little shops and a restaurant along the lane and right at the end, the House of the Taylor of Gloucester, a lovely little museum and shop which Beatrix Potter chose as the setting for her book of the same name. http://www.tailor-of-gloucester.org.uk/ You can only just make out the shop sign at the end of the lane in this photo. Next time I'm in town I will take my picture from the other end to include the shop front.
