It has beaten me with less than 2 months to go

Anyone reading this on a regular basis will have realised that I haven't uploaded anything for over a month, it has finally beaten me! I got to the point that I was taking photos of any old rubbish just for the sake of taking a photo and getting really stressed out about it. Then a friend reminded me that my photography should be enjoyed and not endured so I stopped photographing rubbish for the sake of a blog that really doesn't matter to anyone anyway.

I have also not put anything into the camera club comps for the same reason. You produce what you think is a really good picture just to have it ripped to bits by judges who seem to know little more about anything than you do yourself, why do we do this? I have taken a step back from my degree course too. I will go back to some of it eventually but only when I can enjoy it again, if it was stress I wanted I would go back to work!

My first task is going to be clearing out my EPZ portfolio and engaging with some of the galleries and discussions again, so watch this space SmileSmile

I have to congratulate you on your honesty, and ability to stand back and see the 'bigger picture'. While it is fun to challenge yourself to take a picture every day, it is not fun if you become stressed by it - only take a picture if you want to for your pleasure. If others like it, great. If they don't; well so what?
I can empathise with the sentiments, and after some reflection, I hope you will get back to enjoying taking photos for YOUR pleasure.
Best Wishes,
Scotty.

I had noticed your lack of blogs. I too have not been entering Club competitions much, would rather take pictures for myself.

Good to read that your absence has not been due to ill health.
A shame that you ran out of inspiration though, having got almost to the end Sad
But your reasons are exactly why my friends could not persuade me to attempt a 365 !

Thanks all. I have come to the conclusion that we are all trained from birth to do things just to please others or to prove yourself and it's daft! I am still taking photos but for my own satisfaction. How long that will last, who knows as I need a little bit of pressure now and again to keep me going but if anyone hears me say 365 again, shoot me! I'm depending on you for that Helen!

I had started to wonder. I too have found it hard at time especially in the last couple of months when i've been workng nights. And know exactly what you mean about producing rubbish, some of the shots i've taken for my blog have been, what i can only describe as crap. But i've nearly made it to the last month and i can see the end so i know i'm going to finish it.

I have enjoyed it though, and that what photography is about, enjoy the world around. As soon as it becomes a chore, you lose your focus i think.

However i would think twice about doing another, maybe a Project 52 may have been a better option? who knows.

I am however thinking about a new project of sorts for next year, but nothing as demanding as a 365.

Think i'm probably rambling now, think i'll clear off now.
