Dear Ann your portraits are FANTASTIC! Can you give me any tips? How do you get your pic so clear and sharp? Do you prefer a particular lighting set up or just natural light? Whatever you are doing these are the best portraits on epz! And I've seen a lot now!
Keep em coming!
Best wishes

i love the b&w pictures on your p/f, ive started a hobby in photography and loving it, doing b&w to start of with at college and your some of your b&w portraiits are inspiring me.

Just looked at your p/f for the first time; it's close to the knuckle. I say 'close to the knuckle' because these portraits are so breath-takingly good, they 'bond' with the onlooker. Can't say more than that.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write such nice words about my portfolio and pictures. May I return the compliment. It's hard to believe you are a 'newcomer', your portraits in particular are very, very good indeed. A very talented lady.

Thanks for commenting on my 'Clocks' picture.

You have a most impressive portfolio.

Thank you again. Didn't realise I could be that specific with the sharpening. Anyway tried it and it made Harvey's eyes go grey as there were little white hairs across them, so tried the unsharp that you suggested the other day, this made them a little darker and looked better. Is this what I should have done? Also glad you liked the crop, partly done as his lead was to the left of him infront of his tail. Tried for ages using clone and magic wand to get rid of it but obviously doing something wrong so cropped it off in frustration! Off to buy photoshop elements tomorrow!

This is a super portfolio. I certainly agree, many a professional would love to get this quality in their work, especially in portraiture. I'm still learning. Whenever I find a mdodel I have to share model and studio with other club members. Not conducive, but better than nothing!

Best Wishes Anne.

Anne, one amazing aspect of your portfolio is that, even though the majority of your postings are your incredible portraits, your seascapes are equally as gorgeous. This is an excellent PF. -=Walter

Hi Anne,

You just commented on my latest Steephill Cove upload, so I came looking! I'm glad I did - beautiful portraiture and a really good PF.

By the way, I work in the harbour office at Yarmouth and sail out of the RSYC! It's a small world and I hope our paths cross sometime.

Hi Anne
Love your work, your protraits are so natural looking and the soft tones work really well. I too am new to all of this and enjoy playing. I also love portraiture, groups scare me a little as you have so many people to deal with...have to practise on that, any helpful hints would be great.
Look forward to watching your work.

Ann , thankyou for your kind comments, they mean a great deal, since I have enjoyed your work for a while now. We both obviously enjoy photographing youngsters, I find them so natural in front of a camera. In answer to your question, most of my framing is done using the rectangular marquee tool on a seperate layer , applying a thin stroke in a suitable colour. My text is then added on another layer.
By then using the eraser on the stroke layer, I can remove the line where text or the subject happens to be.This usually gives me a simple but unobtrusive frame.
Bye for now,

There is no doubt that you have a special talent. Does nt matter what you take and you are young enough to take advantage of this talent for portraits why the attention to deatil and use of light is nothing short of brilliant. I know you cannot fail so wish you well in your coming ventures. Waht a pleasure to see your portraits.

Your portraiture is wonderful. You asked how I did the border on frills. Well I had help from Alison (EPZ member 'Cattyal'). You will find my email address on my portfolio page. If you email me I will send you back a copy of the instructions she gave me on how to achieve this type of border. Check Alison out for an idea of what she can do.

Hi Anne,
Proud to be the 1st of many to comment on you Portfolio. I think you have a very special talent for portrait photography with the ability to put you subjects at ease. This is has to be one of the hardest things to do in photography. You have a portfolio any professional photographer would be proud off.
