Quote:I really liked the colour one you took around the same time, I like this better.

Well observed, this one is from a week earlier and different time of day, obviously. I particularly like last years better with the leading lines provided by the cable channels.
The finished acrylic bridge is almost too sleek.. but will post one photo.

AND!!! Many thanks for the award SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

  • Cables by ZenTony

Quote:Call me a pedant, but those look more like thick rods to me, not wires...although I stand to be corrected, naturellement...unless, of course, they are encased wires...

Cable it is. I am an engineer and I translate many construction articles into English or from English to Spanish.

And it is a fantastic picture which really shows the suspension system and reinforcement from an unusual perspective. Would be fascinating to learn which bridge it is and to see a plan.

  • Posted on: Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM A Lens Review

    Thank you!
Bought it after your and some other recommendations and have taken in 13 months more than 5000 pictures with it. wAnd that is me, who doesn't shoot much wide angle usually. It has be come a train companion, a flower lens mushrooms to architecture, you name it. Agree to Jacques, it needs definitely a say 55-105 companion!
I had the 135 art for a while, compared to this one it is clumsy to use, too bulky and limited. So this 24-35 is usually accompanied by my 150 f/2.8 or the 85 1.4 (the old one)

  • Posted on: Sigma 180mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Lens Review

After 7 years and more than 25,000 shots I dare say I never had a better macro lens. It works extremely well with the Sigma 1.4 converter and gives you even closer range, works well at night and day, for dogs, weddings, 4x4 events and you name it. Meaning it only leaves my bag if I positively need the 300 2.8 instead (double the weight). I hardly use the 80-200 2.8 zoom now Smile

    Hi Mentor Ron
there is no electronic gadget in their lenses...
So that is what my Nikon says, too. Using the 12mm that is or any other Venus lens.
They make fantastic glass.. I own the 60mm macro and the 12 mm

In the picture I eally like the fact that the focussing ring is near the camera and not far away as on most mordern Nikons.
Howerver, it looks heavier than my 600 5.6 MF and it is certainly less sharp ( judging from the sparrow and th squirrel.. Having said that my 600 was £1000 i wouldn't swap Smile

    No micro nikkor 200 mm?
    Why? It is perfect!
I'm also surprised that the 24-70 is on the list, far less than perfect! It is a very Castile lens but certainly not tack sharp from 24-28!
Also, I have just tested it with my old 500 and 600mmm MF lenses.
Surprise surprise , the 600mm was the clear winner. See my moon shot.

Quote:LiveView would be useful as you'll be able to see what the viewfinder sees without actually having to use it.

Sorry, I don't understand. The display is LOWER than the viewfinder. So the viewfinder gives you certainly a brighter, enlarger image. Also focussing a macro has to be very accurate, direct view would seem indispensable.

    Do I miss something or?
the article tells us a lot about software, but a camera article should not say you 'expect' picture quality and take pictures off the screen, but we'd like to see the pictures you took!!
For instance, what does the 'macro ' mode do in reality?

  • Posted on: Nokia PureView 808 41mp Hands-On Review

Sure, for a phone this is impressive. Zeiss has certainly set a new goalpost for micro-technology.
Especially if you see the crappy images produced by my ipad2, you wonder why they bothered to install a camera at all.
But as the others say, how do you focus on a flimsy screen? how do you set the aperture? Look at the butterfly picture and you'll see when they took the pic they focused on the finger.
To be honest, I'd rather have less resolution and also less distortion. The 'zoom' is pretty soft seen from here.

A phone camera remains an emergency camera replacement... I like to have control over my images and 41 MP seems a waste without a proper viewfinder.

agree with kodachrome, I have downloaded two pics and they are not that sharp in the corners at all (24mm f8 should be sharp, shouldn't it?)

i'd never see that in my d2x of course but when I bought a better scanner at the time I saw the flaws in my Pentax lenses Smile
