Happy birthday Mick!

and thanks to you all for your ongoing support.

this is the old Birdsville AEC mailtruck as seen20 years ago. The one driven by the legendary Tom Kruse.
------------------------------
Actually, this is also for my late friend Neill Frazer, the one admiring the truck. Neill started driving a truck trough Australia in 1935. We travelled together for a longish period, he in his little truck and me in my 4x4. We'd meet very often and chat drink and eat and helped each other out of many troubles. He was 75 then, had had 4 bypasses and still was going strong. Believe me, he taught me a lot!!!

My goodness. Lot to be said for rust after all and the way it appears to be holding this challenged machine together!!!Tongue You've certainly captured the details and textures well.

Great shot and fantastic find even although it was a few years ago. This is actualy what was called a Matador, they are old 4X4 trucks used by the British army during the war years as a gun carriage. after the war many were sold off and converted into tow trucks because of their size and power ratio. I used to work for Lowland Scottish bus company at Dunbar, east lothian, they were origonaly past of the Scottish Bus Group which is no more. I have driven the one we used to have and it can be seen on this link, if it works. Great shot and a nice trip down memory lane.
