flies like a bird, size of a blackbird and even trickier to nail!

Many thanks to Pamela for the ID of the Zebra, methinks it is another one, the Pathysa (Paranticopsis) delesserti BUT without her help I would never have found the right one... the common Malayan zebra Smile
this is probably another 'common one' but it took me the better part of the afternoon to get a few good shots. It is dark in the jungle, the ground isn't easy to stalk on and they virtually never sit down in the open.
So I don't hav a clue what it is, but it is a Papilionidae for sure.
will try to upload a side view and the place where we had dinner last night.
Well my power supply is gving up the ghost so don't know how much longer I can stay online Sad

Given the difficulties that a jungle setting will pose together with low light levels, I presume, you have done a pretty food job in capturing this butterfly: the side view in V 2 possibly shows it off better, although that vibrant blue on the upper wing surface is less on show.
Your watering hole in V 3 looks a fascinating place for a meal.

V1 gets the click from me. I remember whiel in Argentina some years ago standing admiring some superb butterfly flying low and slow. Just then down flew a large bird and the butterfly was lunch!!

Glad you got the id on yesterday's Annette. I think today's is The Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas Bolina Bolina) . It's a real beauty - we saw some Eggflies in India but not this particular one.

I think Jason is right.
The Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina), also called the Blue Moon Butterfly in New Zealand or Common Eggfly, is a species of nymphalid butterfly.
See it here , it's a male.

This might be a useful site for you, Annette.

Good job on getting this creature -- under a less than ideal situation.
I really like V3. You know that's my kind of shot -- the smokey grill of a street food vendor.
