Reynisdrangar Surf

By AntHolloway
These basalt sea stacks, called Reynisdrangar, stand offshore of Vik in southern Iceland. The waves here can travel all the way from Antarctica and I can attest to the winds on this south facing beach.

I like the strength and height of the rugged spindles of rock, looking quite spooky protruding from the stormy sea, very dramatic.

"Legend says that the stacks originated when two trolls dragged a three-masted ship to land unsuccessfully and when daylight broke they became needles of rock".
I love legends like that.
