Thank you TanyaH for that comment I have "thing" for eyes, and I wanted to show just an eye (and a little bit around it) in this shot without showing much about the person. I find eyes fascinating

Thanks Nathan, but sadly, it wasn't possible on that particular day. Especially as it was heavy rain for most of the day and it didn't clear up until late on. One day though...

The shallow DOF was partially intentional as I like that particular look, but I can understand why you'd want to see more detail of such a nice creature It was also partially because it was almost 9.15pm and the light was failing (as this was taken outside at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire) and I didn't have my flash-gun so had to stop the lens down a little to avoid going beyond ISO 1600, although I might have been able to push it to 3200 perhaps.

I shall see what I can do next time
