Morning at Estuary 2

By arhab
This taken the next day from my pict (morning at estuary) taken. this time the sun is bright no clouds. Still quiet enough. I love this place.

On the background is plant power funded by japan, korea and Indonesian company/government?. It can not believe the japan and korea cooperate in building project, but it happen.

I put this image to the black and white competition this month. Comment and critique welcome.

Hi Muhamad,

Nice shot, great place but I'm not sure I would have included that monstrosity of a man made eyesore in my shot. These boats are great especially the one on the right, the hull looks great. The horizon in the shot seems to be smack on level and sort of in the bottom thrid which is good. It is a shame the sky is featureless but I guess you captured what you could. but for me that factory, regardless of who owns it is just an eyesore.

There is a strange glow around the boats and the tree in the right edge, not sure what has caused that but I would just be mindful of it. Also be a bit careful of what you meter against for the exposure, I see you used spot metering but I would suspect that given the bland sky and darkish boats, the camera had metered on something that is middle grey in tonality, probably that third boat or even the hazy factory. You need to use the exposure lock button if your camera has one to meter on the area you want to be right and lock it in whilst you take the shot. If the range is too great for your camera, try taking several exposures and fusing them using the HDR procesor in PS or Photomatix etc.

Anyway, I hope this helps

Your EXIF data suggests very bright lighting but it doesnt actually look so. An interesting image but the tonal range has beaten you a bit. You could do to lighten the boats a bit, then darken the background.

Thank you Jeff, i like the mod, more bright and more detail on the boats.

Thank you Dave. The strange glow around the tree on right edge and the boat because off the backlight effect. I tried to minimalize the effect to present but i think i am not carefully.

About the plant power, maybe it's an eyesore but i like it. Smile Actually i have another pic of this scene with differnt exposure with the plant power not show unless changes the highligt/shadow. i will put it in the mod. and i will come back to try bracketting.

Thank you Paul, you are right it is bright but not in the camera because the sun is in front of me.
