By arhab
Took this picture from the pillar on the riverside. The wind so hard, actually i'm afraid to stand so sat down. if you want to know what kind the pillar, you can see on my cimanuk river pic on portfolio. the wide around 60cm.

people took the sand from the river then if the boat full, drop it to the side where ready to upload to the truck.

Change it to black & white using saturation and luminance curve. Comment and critique welcome.

Nice picture and two commnents if I may.

Firstly I do think that this might well ahve been better in colour.

Secondly, I think there is a little too much sea here giving a slight imbalance. I have uploaded a mod to show you how I think a slight crop will enhance the appearance of the picture.

I find your description interesting, Muhamad, and you have captured the action well.
However, most of the action is taking place in the top of the image, with too much plain water at the bottom.
Simply by moving your camera upwards, you would have had less water and more space above the truck top right, and I feel that this truck is not only an important part of the sand mining scene, but it also gives a balance to the it, with the miners bottom left and the truck top right.
I have done a modification to show you what I mean. I cropped the bottom and the left, then added canvas to the top. I extended the scene into my added canvas, and it now looks a bit like a rock face, but it shows you the idea of having extra space above the truck.

As above, but also, it's hard to make out what is happening. The action is quite a long way off, so zooming in would help, if not, cropping tighter to the action.

I think colour might also help separate some of what's going on.

thank you Frank, You can comment on my pic as much as you want. I read your comment on flower pic and the poster reaction after receive your suggestion. i think she/he not ready to receive constructive comment. Now about my pic, you are right. crop the water on the bottom and this on color make it better.

Thank you Pam, your mod excellent. the adding canvas looks so natural. Smile

Thank you Nick, yes in color is better. actually this is on full zoom 90mm, so cropping as Frank mod and adding canvas on the top as pam mod looks better than mine.

The content is interesting, but there is quite a lot of it. Each element could be a picture in it's own right I think. I would prefer colour for these shots. Tells the story better.
