Moving on from the static shots, hereís a shot of Quince coming into land on some prey.
When I say prey, itís prey to him, itís a quick snack to keep him interested, and as with the Milky Way chocolate bar, something you can eat between meals : ) In other words, once Quince has eaten enough, flying ends........... thatís it. So, little and often means a lot of short flights to keep the humans happy and snapping : )
I hope the title is fairly obvious : )
The day was overcast, but fairly light, hence the settings below:
ISO 800
Focal length 280mm (70-200F4.. w/1.4tc)
IS off
tripod mounted.

Nice try Andrew, can't really tell if it needs a little more post-production work to really make it stand out, or if the timing was just ever so slightly off.

There should be a little more detail in the head and neck region. Looking at the heather underneath the focus looks to be on the correct plane (as far as is possible to tell). So it could be down to processing.

Still despite the number of runs on offer generally this is still not an easy thing to do and compositionally it is nailed.

Thanks Mara : ) and to all who commented and voted so far, it's great when you get an image (nearly) right ; ).
ChrisGilbert, the falconer Andy, told me this is how it came about, but thanks for mentioning it as I'd forgotten to.
The word 'crop'(to bring the crop in) also comes from falconry, and the expression 'cadge a lift' does too. A 'cadge' is a wooden shelf that a falconer would wear around his waist, held up with straps over the shoulders, that the gentry's birds of prey would be carried on, over yonder hill and vale.
