Jamaican Bar

By ARJones
On the rare occasions I manage to get out alone and drive around rural Jamaica I am invariably drawn to small road side bars. (Must be the heat and the Red Stripe beer!!)

Most bars have one woman working, they normally alternate with another barmaid and do one week on and one week off. They generally get paid 20 - 30 pounds for the 7 day week.

This particular bar is in Clarendon near an area known as Crooked River. Apart from myself there was one other customer.

Most barmaids seem to be bored and disinterested. In this shot I like the composition and colours with the Red Stripe calender putting it onto context date wise. Thought of cropping out the window frame but did not want to lose more of her elbow.

Regards

Andy

I like the composition too and the splash of colour from the poster. Looks like you caught her deep in boredom too Smile
