This is Mr Rhone from yesterday's upload inside his antique shop 'Metuzila', Kingston, Jamaica. Surrounded by his wares I thought he was reading some classical literature but it turned out to be an English comprehension book that he had used as a child and he was reminiscing.

Bright sunshine outside with a dark interior gave quite a nice light. I enjoyed some if the basic labeling of goods which added to the charm of the place - 'Set of Coins' or 'Beer bottle'.

I live nearby and have driven past this shop regularly for more than three years - with a return to the UK likely next year I decided to park the car and take a walk with the camera so I don't have to rely on my memory alone.

This is definitely not a place on the tourist map but I was generally well received - I believe it has a lot to do with how you relate to and interact with people. I enjoyed it and met some real characters one of whom claimed to be a photographer having graduated from the New York School of Photography - he was quite old and dishevelled and it was hard to believe that he had ever owned a camera or had lived outside Jamaica- I'm trying to find where he lives to learn more about him and hopefully to photograph him.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the votes and comments - Challice - yes I liked the camera there and there are others hanging off the shelf including an old 110 camera I can remember using as a child. I've no doubt that I'll be re-visiting this spot and trying to find the old photographer I met.

Great Andy. This is so down my alley, and please go out there to do some more. Lovely work here, and beautifully crafted.

Exceptionally nice candid image.

Loaded a mod with a touch more contrast and crop, - no better, just different.

Andre - will do what I can to get more shots - dayjob is rather demanding at the moment!

Willie thanks for the mod and your comments - always gratefully received.
