bighorn sheep at red rock

By artcubis
More about Red Rock Canyon ...

This amazing conservation area is also home to about 200 different mammals which include burros, rabbits, coyotes, bighorn sheep, red tailed hawks, golden eagles, hummingbirds and even a few wild horses, bobcats and mountain lions.

We were fortunate to see bighorn sheep, a wild burro, a flock of guail, many birds and butterflies, and naturally, other desert dwellers and reptiles.

Here is one of my treasured photos of a bighorn sheep. Hard to spot, they blend in so well.

Excellent shot Catherine with a great narrative.
Unfortunately we cant see your picture in large view but it does seem to me that the detail on the Sheep is very good and that you could perhaps give the whole image a bit more impact by cropping closer to it. Details and features of the valley are very interesting but it would not detract at all from the image if you were to crop out a good half inch or so all round. This would enable you to feature the sheep far more prominently.
I hasten to add that this is just my opinion and in no way intended as criticism.

Thank you Andy for the lovely comment. Yes, often the desert light is extremely bright and intense, or there are very deep shadows. Tricky indeed. thanks for noticing. Catherine

Hello Ron,
I appreciate your constructive comment. I will play around with it a bit, and see what kind of crop will give best advantage. This is a 10x optical zoom Panasonic camera, and the details of the bighorn sheep would be sharper in a close crop image. Thanks for the suggestion. I can only post one picture a day, and instead of posting revisions, I put new pictures up, however I do make the revisions using suggestions, comments, guidedlines, and store them on my computer. Thanks so much for your lovely comments. Catherine
