lalique fountain

By artcubis
The Lalique atrium with its colorful umbrellas at the Palazzo, Las Vegas, Nevada was one of my favourite inner courtyards after the famous Bellagio gardens. These photos were taken in July 2009. Atriums and gardens change with the seasons.

A little background about LALIQUE Art and sculpture:

Rene Lalique (French art glass designer born 1860) studied art from age 12 in London and Paris. He became famous in the 1890s for his Art Nuveau jewelry and perfume bottles, designing pieces for French jewelers Cartier, Boucheron and others.

In 1885 he opened his own business and moved onto Art Deco - walls of lighted glass, statues, pillars and sculptures. His legacy continues and thrives long after his death in 1945.

Tony, yes, it is very large.

I am very fond of Lalique glass Catherine. Such an artist. I dread to think what this must have cost !! Using the figures to help with the scale is a very good idea. Well done.
