Gatecrasher!

I was framing a pic of 2 hoverflies from about 6 inches away and was just about to click when this zonking great guy came in and landed on them. You can see the wings of one of the flies under the right wing of the Peacock.

If you listened closely you could hear shrill, "bzz bzz help us bzzz" noises.....

This is a particularly good example of the Peacock Butterfly, scales are all still intact and no tears on the wings.

They keep really well in the freezer until you're ready to take a photo, don't they!

Gutted at the quality macro work, in case you couldn't spot the professional envy!

On the subject of cows leaving large cow prints, this was sans saliver. Can I also point out the damage done to my jallopy? Mutter grumble curse.

Well done on your first Reader's Choice - well deserved!

Excellent shot as usual. Of course, were you to put this shot into a club competition, the judge would mark it down for the right hand side of the butterfly's wing being out of focus. If you had it in focus, you'd be marked down for not having a shallow enough depth of field!
