More Masculine

By cattyal
I wasn't going to upload today but again I've changed my mind. Having done a girly type still life last night I thought I'd do something a bit more masculine this evening. I've not used the grooming kit in any photo yet so it was as good a time as any to try it out.

I used the black 'velvet' background this time and added a texture layer to mess up the wood a bit more - oh and a touch of Topaz Adjust Smile

Very well lit. How did you light it?

I like this one very much - very masculine and the lighting is superb.

Thanks everyone Smile I'm off to an antiques fair later today - I do hope I don't come home with anything else!

Steven - if you pop over to my coffee pot pic and take a look at versions 2 and 3 you will see my arrangement - it was the same for all three of my latest still life pics. I may have held a sheet of white foamboard to the right on this one to bounce a bit of light back - I can't actually recall Smile

The props are very well set up and the lighting excellent. Particularly impressive is the light on the candle and holder.

Thanks Derek - I seem to have just about got the lighting technique almost right for this kind of thing - well better than I've managed before Smile

I've now got a Rolls Razor, complete with box, to add to the men's grooming collection - I shall have to attempt another arrangement now!
