'Portrait Photography' Competition - Win A Samyang 85mm F/1.4 FE II Lens!
Comments

The V2 is better, though your previous shot of Louise is better than both.
You are using the 50mm lens, so its a 1.4 or a 1.8, and fully open delivers a very soft look, which can work, but the eyes, or the nearest eye to the camera has to be the cameras focus point, and has to be sharp. Its better stopped down to f/5.6 or so for this.
Keep an eye on white balance also, - its a tad cool in this. Try shooting raw and adjusting white balance post processing, or use a grey card in a test shot as a reference.
Remember also to sharpen after you re size before uploading. In my mods, Ive sharpened the eyes and mouth using a USM setting of : Amount = 190%; Radius = 0.8, Threshold = 3, so it was really soft, suggesting you missed this step.
Ive adjusted skin colour to be a little warmer, and also loaded a mono version with a diffuse glow to soften the features.
Both are cropped to place an eye on a third.
Hope this is helpful,
regards
Willie
