Nara

By Ayelet_A
Hello everyone,

Many thanks for your wonderful comments on my last uploads. It's such fun getting back from a long day at work to all your wonderful words.
Things at work are still tight so I'm afraid I'll be away from the site this week as well but I'll try and pop back at the weekend... I promise to catch up with you all - eventually Wink

This is a trio from Nara, a city also located at Western Honshu, not far from Kobe.
It has many Shinto shrines as well and a big park in which the deers run freely (as they are considered a sacred animal).
This "golden" guy is the "Great Buddha Vairocana", and dates from 752. It is made out of hundreds of tons of molten bronze, mercury and vegetable wax. Comes to an astonishing height of 16 m(53 ft), it wasn't easy to capture Wink

V2 and V3 were shot outside of the temple were visitors light a traditional incense wishing for good luck or health.

I wish you all a great week!
Ayelet

This set has a quiet calm, soft serenity. Magical and very engaging. Excellent composition in V1 and V3 in particular.

You have very carefully selected your pov and composed the images in an imaginative and very effective way - each has a sense of devotion that is enhanced by your composition.

Great stuff.

You've done well here, from memory it's very dark where the Great Budda is so well done to get this image. The other two images also capture Shinto devotion sensitively. Nice set.

Hi Ayelet!

A very set of shots! V1 is spectacular - a very good use of carefully placed zoom blur to enhance your focal point.

Excellent!
