The Lady in Red

By Ayelet_A
Hi! Still here Wink

First I would like to thank you all for the very warm and heartening "welcome back" - I was deeply touched by your response Smile
Also a big thank you for all the advices regarding the camera - I will put them to good use. For now it seems Nikon is winning the polls Tongue

As for the image - this is a quick portrait of my lovely grandmother, Lea, out on a sunny day together.
I wonder if you'd like the treatment applied...

Have a wonderful weekend! Smile

That's one strong lady! I like the way you've placed her against the radiating spokes. I like the glasses too, because they imply eye contact but leave it to our imagination to fill in the gaps. Like this in a lot of ways.

Although her face is a bit dark this wins my vote for creativity and composition--- The radiating spokes fo the umbrella caught my eye-- like how this frames the image and draws one into the face!

well seen and accomplished!

Thank you Moira, Sandy and Jenn. Really glad you liked it.

Jenn - I might have overdone with the treatment, I'll see if I can play with that. Thanks again for the comment Smile

A great portrait Ayelet, with the backlight through the umbrella giving some soft light, and working well desaturated. But I would like to have seen her eyes and maybe a smile reflecting the warmth of your relationship

Thank you Ollie, Gerry, Ron and Linda.

Thanks Tim - I do understand your point, and I agree it's not a warm portrait - but I think I was trying to portray something different then "my grandma" and our connection and more a portrait of her as an elderly woman but as the elegant maybe even aristocratic woman she is. I hope that came across... what do you think?

A nice portrait but as Tim said a smile would have been nice. - gary

Thanks Ayelet; I'll look forward to seeing the warm smile another time then, but this one does portray a real strength, poise and sense of presence
