Trying out my Dimage Scan Elite 5400 on some old slides. Difficult to get the size down. This image started out at 29Mb! Some local stags.

looks like a painting at first glance.
Have you tried a piece of software called pixresizer - its free and you can reduce images en-batch or as singles.

29mb to 29k in a few simple clicks.

Nice one, I used to scan a lot of stuff, some of it started of at 100Mb, pix resizer is a good option for speed, i'm sure cs2 is equally good, i used to use it all the time with good results. I would turn the contrast up just a touch too.
