Model 1. Successful Britain

By wattoj
A model poses for photographers whilst on a catwalk at The Successful Britain Event, Tallinn Estonia.

"I was shooting, modelling the clothes but I also took some portraits too. The flash worked great and wasn't too bright.

I am looking for some ideas to really enhance the photo. It's Ok as it is but I am looking for that 'WOW' shot that will sell.

Comment and critique most welcome!"

Good well framed image, I've upload a mod trying a few small improvements. Got rid of bright lights, darkened hair at top where stray light was causing over exposure and lightened her right eye a little. May have been better if you got her a little fuller in the face. I guess you did not have a choice of position. Hope she is famous and if so you get a sale. Ian

A lovely capture of this beautiful lady. I have done a little mod.
It's really lovely and have slightly darkened her hair on the top of
her head as I feel it looks a little bright.

there are some really interesting bits to this image, i find it overall quite intrigueing
some of the out of focus highlights in the background are adding a lot, i particularly like the 3/4 on view, the expression and the overall composition .

a few things are happening though that are working against you having a storming seller.

the red lipstick is over saturated,
there is a large grey flare ball in the headscarf/hairline that possibly would clone away or tone down.
there is an ugly shadowon the far side of the nose and tecnically this is the single most obstacle to publication
the left eye is slightly dark and could be locally brightened with a variety of methods
the area to the rear of the head is too bright and distracting so id crop a little from the top and tone down the top right corner to hold in the edge.

id clone out the single bright highlight top left. and possibly do a popped gaussian blurred layer to smooth out a little of the skin roughness but quite in a subtle way, not over the top.

i dont know if its a diamond or a white spot on the nose but i think i would lose it all the same.

now all that sounds cruel and excessive though its not meant to be, but mostly it can be fixed and its still a super portrait for all that but you are wanting to sell in a very demanding market and candids without the benefit of controlled lighting is always going to be tough. the flash needed bouncing or reflecting or diffusing by one of many methods.
