Great image nicely composed. Great clarity and colour, like the catchlights in the eye focal point is bang on. One very minor comment, it has been cropped a bit close to the bottom of the nuthatch for me, but you may not have had mouch choice.

I've added another version with a slightly wider crop, to see what that looks like. Please take a look.
Just came across your photo again and had another look at both versions. In V1 my eye is scanning over the bird, drawn to, and trying to focus on the tree trunk in the background. I V2 the eye is drawn straight to the bird. So I agree with Gavin's comment and find V2 more pleasing to look at. Anyway, in my view, it's one of the very best bird photos I've seen in the Ephotozine gallery.

Wow Chris, what a lift it's given me to read your praise for my photograph, thank you so much. I'm still uncertain about which I prefer most, I like both of them, but it's interesting and educating to read the views of others. It also demonstrates the degree of subjective opinions we all have. Thank you once again.
PS. I'm hoping to post another photo from the weekend shortly.
