Desolate Trees

By benlee
This is another shot from my recent skiing trip to Copper Mountain. Taken early in the morning as the sun was trying to break through the cloud / snow. It had this nice surreal atmosphere but lacked any contrast.

It was destined for B&W the moment it was taken, really. The colour version lacked any impact.

Would be great to know your thoughts

I like the atmospheric quality. The inclusion of the snow in the air gives this a very real and beautiful feeling. I find it most attractive.

Nice luminance , the snows acted as a good blanket.

Quandary with this image is no focal point.

It needs something for the eye to "lock" onto so you get drawn out into the image from that point , its rather busy as it stands.

Not so sure about the small snowline at the bottom , a bit like cutting someones knees off in a crop. Would liked to have seen slightly more to "weight" the image.

A nice shot as is, - not a lot you can do other than have it as a reminder of the trip.

Loaded a mod with a bit more contrast, and cropped a little of the snow from the bottom, but I see Dave has put a sea gull in his mod for a focal point which is an improvements.
