it has a certain charm, the conditions are lovely and the exposure reasonably good, there are some lovely drops of light on the horizon and the sky and reflection work well together but somehow i feel its a little like stage without an actor.

for me the near symmetry created by the central horizon and the lack of a principle subject, point of focus or lead in created by a foreground make it hard for me to settle on any section of the image and i keep scanning across and up and down looking for a place to hold attention.

its a nice record of lovely condiotions but id be looking for something stronger to act as a focal point/

I agree with Phil about the composition. Shots like this suit a symmetrical format, because symmetrical suggests peaceful, tranquil, restful. This usually goes hand in hand with simplicity, though, and often the fewer elements in the shot the better. I think there are just too many bits of small detail which have the eye darting around, denying it that promised tranquility..

So to expand on Phil's suggestion that
Quote: I'd be looking for something stronger to act as a focal point
, I'd suggest either a stronger focal point or none at all (ie less distractions) it is, it's a bit of a halfway house here with lots of little points.

Two tiny niggles..I believe the water line's sloping a tiny bit clockwise (taking the vertical from the mast of the third boat from the right).... and it's a bit soft..did you do a final low-level sharpen after resizing for the web?

Hope that's some use
