Posts & Ridges

A fine morning on the Great Ridge last September.
Is it just me or does anyone else agree that this site isn't as popular as it used to be? I am not talking about the number of votes or comments but the community list never seems to be as full. From a personal point of view I haven't been on here as much this year as I find it frustrating as since the makeover the site seems to be a lot slower, especially when writing comments. Is that the main reason why people are staying away or is it simply a case of that now there is a lot more websites out there that some people prefer?

Really nice monochrome with great leading lines.

I think the site has very high quality photos and the Critique section is good, but the discussion forums are almost dead and the Awards seem to be focused on a small inner circle.

So there's little reason to post here now, and unless you pay for an upgrade it's a very limited site compared to others.

Stunning mono Ryan - probably be great in colour too.
Yes I find the site is very changed - voting has about halved,
can't type comments often and there has always been a social element
which some people need but I can't compare with other photography sites.
Tried View Bug but that involves lengthy voting sessions and no comments.
haven' tried Flicker. Some noticeable absentees - don't know where they have defected to??

Lovely image .
I am a newcomer to the site and it is my first attempt to show my images anywhere . To make fair comments takes a great deal of time .. Viv

An excellent mono Ryan. The latest update for me was a backward step, but the site has been losing members for some time. 10 years ago there were 10 times as many visitors, photos and comments and loads of meets organised through the site....and since Pete stepped down the direction of awards has altered. I stick with it for now though, but not with E2 for the time being, as I have met so many photographers through this site.

EPZ is still a friendly, welcoming and, importantly, a very encouraging and helpful site, Ryan.
I do understand your comments.
I have a Flickr account but, do not find the site that easy to use - there is no 'Gallery', as such, and nowhere to see, immediately, what you have uploaded.
I'd stick with EPZ.

A wonderful mono image Ryan....I have noticed a lot of people have disappeared from has to remember the majority of people don't embrace change and give up before learning their way around a new format. I have tried many other sites, they are harder work than epz and not half as friendly. I stay here as i have forged close friendships with all of you and look forward to your uploads everyday...I am here to stay ...another thing I always find is less of the UK members and visitors online during your Summer months....also sadly life does get in the way of time needed on epz...
