This was taken at the Hawk Conservancy Trust at Andover.
I had just bought the cheap Canon EF-S 55-250 lens and was quite impressed at its sharpness on relatively static subjects.
I can thoroughly recommend a day at the Hawk Conservancy if you're remotely interested in birds of prey - they do 3 main displays (all with different birds and 3 separate locations within the site) and its a great place to photograph them, although you will need a good tracking camera to keep up with them during the displays
