It is always exciting for me to encounter a rattlesnake in my wanderings through the desert. They are really quite amazing creatures. They really want very little to do with people and let you know with their rattle that you should come no closer. This one was coiled under a bush for protection.

Looked for Eastern diamondbacks in Florida, would have loved an encouter with this one. Superb image, they are very fast off the mark and just a little poisonous! Ron.

Too close for me too but I like the idea of putting down in black and white.

Well spotted Bill - I wander around (I know better) a bit nonchalantly a lot of the time - and then I pull myself together and give my missus a word of warning - she has no conditioning with regard to keeping one's eyes open in the sticks - as yet not seen one

We had the puff adder in africa - very poisonous and very dangerous as they were so fat they were as like as not unable to get out of ones way - which as you say most snakes prefer to do

Good choice of mono for this image.I wouldn't go anywhere near these things.
