Gotham City

By Nick_w
Last week we had a short break to New York (thanks to everyone who helped with locations etc), I managed a little photography whilst there, most were just family snaps tho, there were so many opportunities, and would love to go back.

Its such a vibrant city with so much going on I loved it - and if / when I go back would like to sample more than just Manhatten (ok we did do a bit of Brooklyn).

This is the first image from the trip - this is the Empire State Building from a slightly different angle from what you normally see it (i.e. viwed from the top of the Rock). This is a new processing style I'm trying for these types of images (inspired by Joel Tjintjelaar). so would be interested to hear what you think. (needs looking at on a profiled screen as the tones are very dark)

Hand held at dusk, sky added later in PP

I will sit on the other images for a while - there are a couple that look OK just need to think how I will present them .

Thanks Janet for the heads up on yesterdays image, the profile should now be correct Wink

Great shot , lighting works great with loads of detail and the rays of light in the sky finish it off , class .

Excellent image Nick, took me a moment to figure out what I was looking at but love your viewpoint. Processing seems spot on to me and I'm viewing on an iPad.

Looking forward to more.

Darren.

I really like the viewpoint and the tones are impressive. I'm going later in the year and its out of my comfort zone - I normally shoot in some remote countryside alone so looking forward to it.

Fantastic. So clean, and just has enough of the comic book look to be able to imagine the Bat. Lovely light in all the right places

The union @ 30˚ between the towers really would have nailed this.

I like it, much more creative than me, I just went up the rock. The only bit where creativity was involved for me was finding a way to brace myself and camera in the strong icy wind.

Glad you enjoyed it.
