They came.....

By Chant57
....... too late.

Another from the East Lothian Coastal Trail. As the tide came in so did the sea mist, and whilst shooting, out of the mist appeared some figures, hoping to make the crossing, but they had left it late, they had no option but to try to make it across to the bridge before the sand bank they were on flooded.....They did make it.

As always thanks for looking.
Thanks for recent UA's and thanks to Pete for the HC on my previous image.

This is really special I love the mood created by the soft colours.

Well done,

I am so jealous of this shot. Hugely atmospheric. Congratulations. I would venture to suggest that there is another cracking letterbox crop here too.

Awesome image but a scary story - is that bridge built to rescue those who get
caught out? it looks along way away!

I must confess that I have had nightmares about crossing bridges with a high tide...
This shot is completely scary to me.

A rewarding trip Chant, this is a terrific image.
Agree with Alun about another image letterbox style and may I add there's a mono somewhere to be had too.

Magical, strange, beautiful, disturbing. I'm so glad this is real not manipulation.
Re the suggestions above - holding bits of card against this, I reckon it could manage without quite so much sky. But keep the foreground, with the pebbles showing softly through the water. That's important, that's here, where we are standing, so it enables us to relate to the figures and their journey. And once we relate, there's a story in those figures, a few pixels can convey so much.

Chant, whereabouts is this? I don't think I've ever come across this before (incredibly atmospheric shot, btw).

Hi Michael
It's near Dunbar, the bridge crosses Biel water , and enables walkers to walk the John Muir way. However at high tides of above 5m the bridge and the sand flats beyond become cut off , giving the appearance of it leading nowhere. If you need any more info , just drop me a pm. Smile

A wonderful image, Chant - seems an odd location for a bridge, but not having been there, it may not be so! Wink

Thanks for the reply, Chant. I was just in Dunbar the other week there as well. I'll google about a bit and see what I can find, but I'll get in touch if I come up fruitless.
