The Sensual World

By MikeBonsall
Thanks to everyone who clicked and commented on my recent shots from The Narrows in Zion National Park. I was overwhelmed by the great response.

This image was taken deep inside the Lower Antelope Slot Canyon near Page, Arizona, also known as ‘The Corkscrew’.

This slot canyon doesn’t get quite as many visitors as it’s neighbour (the Upper Canyon) which is famous for it’s light beans that penetrate to the canyon floor. It does however offer great abstract shapes and forms and the chance to photograph them without people continually getting in the way (exposures were often 30 seconds or more).

For anyone who hasn’t seen images from this place before, the colours here are accurate.

Stunning the colours and shapes are spectacular. When we were there a few years ago in April we couldn't get very far as there was too much water.

This must rate as one of the very best pictures I've ever seen of this place.
Compositionally it is superb, but what is even more impressive is your absolutely brilliant handling of the exposure and dynamic range.
I've been waiting to give a gong, and here it is!
Really well done, Mike.
All the best,

I was annoyed that Lower Antelope was closed when I was there so I had to be content with streams of tourists tripping over my tripod legs...

This is as good as any I've seen from here and better than most, although there is such huge potential here that the only way to take a bad photograph is to forget your tripod or (horrifying thought Wink) use flash...

Thanks a lot Pete Smile

I can see where you're coming from with rose petals. I find the shapes and textures quite erotic and sensual (hence the title). I guess the same words can be used to describe rose petals when shot in close up!
