My first ever Moon shot!

By Bit_Blurry
As title! quite chuffed for a first go Smile

Can't help thinking they'll be a lot of these tonight, it's a beautiful clear sky, or it is here in Kent anyway (after a week of gloom!)

Fantastic capture, I never have much luck with moon shots, you'll have to give me some tips!

Well done!!

Nice capture. I've come in from taking some moon images too. Really clear sky in Berkshire too.

Cracking effort, better than Ive managed as yet.
Its supposed to be at its closest - so biggest tommorow evening about 7pm I believe.

suprised to see the same shot i captured tonight too. very well done, and yes tomorow looks like its going to be the closest it has been for years so a large one. get out and get some more.
ant.
I think you have captured really well. No mods required in this image. You can also save this image and use it for backgrounds to other night time images.

Thanks
Richie.

Thanks for the comments all, much appreciated Smile

@thelooneybishop, sorry, I can't give you any tips, except that I did google for "photographing the moon" which gave me a lot of help.
Annoyingly there is no EXIF data but the following is about right if it helps:

Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: Sigma 150-500mm (at 500mm)
f11 (I think)
Shutter speed: Kept playing with this but faster seemed to be better. I believe this was 1/125 at least or probably faster
Fired from a tripod with timer
ISO 200

I started off with manual focus set to infinity, but they were all blurry so tried flicking the AF on, and it locked onto it instantly! so, i just left it to it.

Cheers,

Chris Smile
